Urban Forestry Community Engagement

Over a period of four years, Honolulu lost 76,000 trees. This project created a community engagement plan for the urban forestry community asking “How can we most effectively engage the community to reduce the upward trend in tree loss in Honolulu?” In addition, the project went deeper with a specific audience: realtors, a previously identified influential stakeholder group, who provided input to better understand the problem and seed solutions. Valuable presentations to realtors integrated meaning making with key content to drive awareness and inspire a shift in behavior. The creation of a leadership team of realtors was also cultivated to continue impact.

Stakeholders engaged include the Trees for Honolulu board members, realtor members of the Honolulu Board of Realtors.

Stephanie Chang Design Ink administrated the project, created a community engagement plan for the urban forestry community, led the engagement with realtors, and created dynamic content design.
